Postural Challenges when sheltering at home

We have all had radical changes to our lives in the last several weeks. One of the challenges that I am seeing is that so many members of the family are having to adapt to working from home. That includes parents and children, often scrambling for the same spaces that were not set up to be ergonomically correct in the first place. One of my patients shared that she is using her laptop while sitting on a cushion on the floor, so that her children can rotate through using the only desk in the house. It's not surprising that her back and neck are bothering her.

With a little extra time on your hands that you have gained from not having to commute, perhaps it is time to start those exercises that your chiropractor has given you. Take breaks during the day to move and stretch. Remember that your body will undergo plastic changes from staying in one position too long. Often the positions that we choose, are not ones that we want to have a long-lasting effect.

Feel free to call the office (if you are an existing patient) and we can send you a link to your ChiroUp exercises.
